gateway christian church eastbourne

The Gateway Christian Church in Eastbourne was formed through the merger of two church communities in the town. The site of one church, in the Old Town was sold and the new church has made its home on the other site in Hampden Park. The existing buildings in Hampden Park are inadequate for the combined congregation and at present Sunday worship takes place in a local school.

Saville Jones have been employed by the church to design a new church building on the Hampden Park site, demolishing the existing facilities and creating a flexible, modern facility conducive to modern forms of worship and community use. The new scheme will include a large auditorium seating approximately 280 people, but designed to be used for other activities during the week. In addition there is to be a large, open and welcoming foyer with cafe-style facilities, meeting rooms, offices and a community police office.

The scheme won the LABC South East Building award in 2016 for Best Public Service Building.
