Ambrose Place, Worthing

Ambrose Place is a terrace of Grade II listed Georgian period townhouses located in central Worthing. The Old Rectory has been sensitively restored to and extended by the current owners, offering modern interiors within a period façade and internal features.

Saville Jones worked in close collaboration with the owners to obtain planning approval including Listed Building Consent.
The project included a new contemporary structural glass extension located to the rear, that offers an open plan kitchen and dining area. This overlooks and provides access with sliding glazed doors into the private courtyard gardens and to the semi-sunken swim against spa.

The careful architectural detailing of the structural glass extension contrasts with the flint walls and brickwork walls, expressed internally and externally within the building to provide a contemporary aesthetic.

Underfloor heating and air conditioning are provided in the new glazed extension, with porcelain tiled flooring taken through the new extension and into the courtyard to provide a seamless transition from interior to exterior.

The property has been fully refurbished to provide spacious accommodation over three floors including five bedrooms, three with en-suites and a family bathroom.

On the ground floor are three reception rooms each with a fireplace. The lower ground has a cinema room with adjoining boot room with garden access, sink and washing facilities.
Externally this house excels with a substantial garden for the centre of town. To the rear is a gated parking area for four cars.
