The new building utilises the excellent views across the surrounding countryside and brings high daylight levels into the building. Its dynamic, curving form enhances the existing school building and provides a visual announcement to building users and visitors alike.
The good levels of natural light controlled with external louvres to screen the high summer sun, but allow in the low winter sun, together with the high-levels of insulation, have contributed to the sustainability of the facility.
Materials, colours and lighting are used confidently, to emphasise the architectural form and create an energetic, vibrant atmosphere conducive to fitness.
The scheme was opened by UK top sprinter and Olympic challenger, Darren Campbell.
