The study looked at the needs of the Park View estate, and especially the Kale Road area, which included dilapidated workshops, community centre, residential units and high-level pedestrian walkways.
Following public consultation and workshops, proposals were drawn up for two options including new build and the adaptation of existing structures.
Facilities included the creation of a community hub comprising shops, café/bar, community police office, crèche, workshops, library and social facilities. These would be complemented by improved open space and public realm, including the demolition of pedestrian bridges over the highway.
