The proposals are designed to attract those visitors familiar with the promenade to flow into the town. Also act as a link from the Old Town into the Town Centre. An ultimate objective is to create employment opportunities for local people which are to be further explored during the construction process.
The proposal includes:
- Create incubator units / kiosks that have a strong visual identity within the townscape.
- Incubator units design to be flexible and adaptable, with possible uses such as food; retail; arts; music; small businesses office.
- The urban design is to have a common theme which reflects modern Hastings as creative town to do business, relax and have fun in.
- Inclusive and accessible to all including access around the site to allow the function of the town to continue.
- Robustness & lifespan / design life were considered.
- Consideration to be given to safety aspects including fire risk; graffiti; anti-climbing etc.
- Signage to complement the architecture and way finder links.
- Simplicity of mechanical & electrical design.
- Drainage & waste management strategy.
- Moveable seating and storable seating arrangements.
